Our programs and staff pages will provide you with resources and an overview of each program offered at Lafayette School. All of our programs are developed using the Common Core Standards and the District Curriculum. Our teachers then construct their daily lessons using best practices which engage and inspire our students to excel beyond their potential.

Welcome to Lafayette's

Library Media Center

The essential intent of the School District of the Chathams library/media program is to foster a love of reading and develop information literacy skills which will enable our students to think critically and become ethical and responsible members of society.

The Lafayette Library Media Center is located in Chatham, New Jersey, a suburban community about forty minutes from New York City. The library is open until 3:30 p.m. Students are encouraged to visit the library for borrowing, research, reading projects, and video projects such as the morning announcements.

The students at Lafayette participate in a reading incentive program called Reading Road Trip where children are asked to connect to books using their talents in art, writing, technology, and drama.  Classes attend library lessons on the 6 day rotation schedule and teachers may use the open blocks for research, extra browsing time, book clubs, quiet reading and projects.  The LMC also houses the PTO sponsored fall Book Fair and Author's Day.
