I started my career at a teacher in South Orange, NJ where I worked from 1999 until 2006. I have an undergraduate degree in teaching Elementary and Special Education. I completed my Master's Degree in 2004 at Montclair State University in Individual and School Counseling. I also received a certificate in Student Assistance Counseling. Post graduation, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), was certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NCC) and earned my Approved Clinical Supervisors Certificate (ACS). In Chatham, I have worked in all the elementary schools before finding a permanent home at Lafayette for the past 10 years. Each day I look forward to seeing what our students learn, how they grow in all ways, and help guide them to better themselves socially, emotionally and academically.
Being outside in the fresh air is where I find my calm. Therefore I always look forward to lacing up my sneakers to go for a run. You may have even spotted me in Chatham or Madison on a Saturday morning. I recently completed The NYC Marathon in 2018 and the Philadelphia Marathon in 2016. I have also run more than a dozen half marathons and a collection of shorter distances. The challenge, dedication, and focus that running has provided me is something that I cherish. One of my favorite home activities to do is a jigsaw puzzle. It helps me relax, spend time with my family, and reminds me that there are simple pleasures in quiet activities.
For 35 years I have attended and worked at Jeff Lake Camp. This past year I was able to blend the two together when the 4th grade joined me for the day for a Social and Emotional Field Trip. Jeff Lake Camp has offered me an abundance of personal and social growth without the added pressure of school. I was thrilled to be able to share that experience with our students as the shared they were able to meet new friends, conquer obstacles, and learn to work collaboratively with each other and their teachers.
