CMS 8th Graders and MAS 3rd graders celebrated Earth Day last Friday learning about pond life. Students participated in a food web activity to learn about the pond ecosystem, a scavenger hunt, and a relay race to remove trash from the "fish pond". #SDOCscience

Marisol Casais, Spanish Teacher, and the PTO brought the Pushcart Players to LAF for an assembly to celebrate Spanish and Latin American folklore. The musical production presented a collection of tales in both Spanish and English to creatively build world language skills. The assembly also expanded on concepts introduced earlier this year during international week.

Students have been celebrating reading across the District during March as part of Read Across America. From escape rooms to one school book reads, authors visits, guest readers, and Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) activities students have been engaged in reading madness.
Author, Chris Grabenstein, visited LAF today to talk to students about the writing process, how to create engaging characters and craft a story that engages readers.
Grabenstein discussed his book, the Smartest Kid in the Universe that LAF student read for One School , One Book. During this interactive assembly Grabenstein weaved together sentences shared by students to illustrate how stories start and how they take shape. #SDOCreads #LAFPTO #readacrossamerica

Beauty and the Beast opened last night with the Senior dinner sponsored by the Chatham Education Association and the Chatham Performing Arts Boosters. This tradition continues to be a highlight for the Seniors and the cast alike. #SDOCarts
