Mark your calendars for the District Art Show on May 22 & 23 from 6:30-8:30 PM! This event showcases over 800 student pieces in all grades and across mediums. There will be interactive art activities both nights. The Chatham Orchestra will also perform. Free and open to the public. #SDOCarts

We enjoyed welcoming our staff members children to #SDOC yesterday for #takeyourchildtoworkday! There were lots of fun activities planned in addition to attending class with their parents. We hope at least a few were inspired to return as future teachers. #SDOC2023

Fantastic CHS Band Concert last night featuring the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensembles! Great rendition of the Lion King. We are looking forward to District Jazz Nigh on May 8 at 7 PM where grades 5-12 will perform.

Last week SBS launched the Cougars Care Cooler for students to donate extra items from their lunches to support the Chatham Community Food Distribution. Students will have the opportunity to donate food each week. #SDOCgivesback #CCFD #chathamunitedmethodistchurch

CMS 8th Graders and MAS 3rd graders celebrated Earth Day last Friday learning about pond life. Students participated in a food web activity to learn about the pond ecosystem, a scavenger hunt, and a relay race to remove trash from the "fish pond". #SDOCscience

This week our most talented and dedicated musicians put on an epic 2.5 hour show of solo performances as the culminating project of their Honors courses in Choir, Band, and Orchestra. The Honors concert commences the spring concert season. #SDOCarts

Marisol Casais, Spanish Teacher, and the PTO brought the Pushcart Players to LAF for an assembly to celebrate Spanish and Latin American folklore. The musical production presented a collection of tales in both Spanish and English to creatively build world language skills. The assembly also expanded on concepts introduced earlier this year during international week.

Students have been celebrating reading across the District during March as part of Read Across America. From escape rooms to one school book reads, authors visits, guest readers, and Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) activities students have been engaged in reading madness.

Author, Chris Grabenstein, visited LAF today to talk to students about the writing process, how to create engaging characters and craft a story that engages readers. Grabenstein discussed his book, the Smartest Kid in the Universe that LAF student read for One School , One Book. During this interactive assembly Grabenstein weaved together sentences shared by students to illustrate how stories start and how they take shape. #SDOCreads #LAFPTO #readacrossamerica

Mrs. Dangler’s 6th graders Zoomed with Kathryn Prociv, Sr. Meteorologist/Producer for NBC, Al Roker & Today Show. Prociv shared experiences as a meteorologist and storm chaser. Greg Smith, Weather Spotter and Skywarn Member presented weather instruments. #SDOCscience #NBCToday

Beauty and the Beast opened last night with the Senior dinner sponsored by the Chatham Education Association and the Chatham Performing Arts Boosters. This tradition continues to be a highlight for the Seniors and the cast alike. #SDOCarts
