MAS is fortunate to border Kelley's Pond! We love being able to teach students about the natural resources in their community. Students were partnered with 8th graders from CMS to assess the overall health of the pond's ecosystem, as part of our Earth Week science lessons. Students performed water quality tests on samples from the pond and observed organisms living at the pond to evaluate the overall health of a pond ecosystem. We are grateful that the weather has allowed for so many great outdoor learning opportunities during Earth Week.

Theatre Studio and Stagecraft classes at Chatham High School went to see The Notebook on Broadway. CHS class of 2017 graduate and Theatre Alumni, Kimberly Scaglione, came to speak with both groups about her experience as a Production Assistant on the show. We love reconnecting with alumni and hearing how they are applying what they have learned in their careers.

The honors recital held earlier this week highlights the breadth of musical talent at Chatham High School. Chorus, band and orchestra students select challenging pieces that showcase their talent and encourage them to master new techniques. We applaud the dedication and commitment it takes to perform these complex solo pieces.

Students across the District viewed the solar eclipse yesterday. Teachers and students alike were awed by this celestial event. Elementary students participated in assemblies and class activities prior to onset to drum up their enthusiasm and teach them about this rare event.

Reminder tomorrow, April 8 is a 90 delayed opening for students. Also, please leave extra time and take extra care at pick up, as more pedestrians and traffic are expected due to the solar eclipse. Welcome back from Spring Break!

8th grade Food Truck presentations are one of the tastiest ways to end the marking period! This class continues to be a favorite at CMS and encourages students to work in groups to bake and market their product to staff members who act as judges.
