CMS students worked in teams to decorate themed scarecrows during HPE for the first ever scarecrow stroll. These won't be up much longer so make sure to drive by the circle this weekend if you want to see their creations.





Students and teachers were full of Halloween spirit on Tuesday! The Chatham Marching Band led the WAS community parade with St. Patrick's School and ECLC to Garden Terrace Nursing Home. MAS, SBS and LAF showed off their costumes to community members along their traditional parade routes and participated in themed classroom activities throughout the day. #SDOC2023

Happy Halloween from the sixth grade class who spent Friday night doing the monster mash, playing carnival games and creating photo memories with their friends at the Halloween Bash. Thanks to the PTO for organizing and hosting this event..

Chatham High School National Art Honor Society’s (NAHS) third annual “Painted Pumpkin Walk” in downtown Chatham! Decorated pumpkin artworks are showcased in downtown Chatham businesses along Main Street and South Passaic Avenue. All are welcome to participate in a scavenger hunt to locate the letters in each pumpkin display and unscramble the hidden message. All correct guesses are entered into a raffle to win one of two T.M. Ward gift baskets. Contest entries will be accepted until Friday, November 3rd at 11:59pm.


Parent Wellness Series welcomes guest speaker Dr. Michael Bradley on November 1 at 6:30 PM at Chatham Middle School. Dr. Bradley will present on "Crazy-Stressed: Serving Today's Overwhelmed Kids with Love Laughter, and the Science of Resilience".

CHS students will be featured at the Grand Opening of the Stanley Center on Sunday October 29. Music performances will begin at 4 PM and will feature: Chacafellas, Nothing But Treble, CHS String Quartet and Andy Wang. CHS Artwork will be on display at the reception from 6-7 PM. The entire celebration runs from 3 PM - 7 PM with the ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for 3:30 PM. Free. Scan QR code to register. Registration is required.



SDOC will be holding an Open House for paraprofessionals and substitutes tomorrow from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Office (259 Lafayette Avenue). HR will be available to meet will candidates for immediate consideration.


Honor a veteran in your family! Chatham Historical Society, Chatham Township Historical Society, and Library of the Chathams are delighted to announce a joint project to celebrate Veterans Day. A special exhibit highlighting the service of our towns' residents to their country will be at the library. Chatham veterans and their family members are invited to be part of this project. Please bring a memento or a photograph with a brief explanation to the Chatham Library. It may be about yourself, your family member, or someone with a connection to Chatham Borough or Chatham Township. Items should be brought in before November 6, 2023. They will be on display in the library during the month of November. The library display cabinet has secure locks so the memorabilia will be safe.


This year CHS introduced a new stagecraft class where students explore the production side of the theatre arts. This month students completed a food prop project and will shift to focusing on costume and light design in the upcoming weeks.

MAS preschool and kindergarten classes visited the pumpkin patch today. Students picked pumpkins and participated in a fall scavenger hunt. They also had the opportunity to pick a friend and go on a "hay ride". These activities help students build observation skills, teach collaboration and teamwork. MAS loves engaging students in interactive outdoor learning.





Chatham Marching Band Day proceeded last Saturday amidst rainy conditions. Prospective Marching Cougars learned marching techniques, football cheers and played along the sidelines with the high school band at the football game. Chatham Marching Band is currently ranked #1 in our region and division and will perform their award-winning show on Saturday at the Tournament of Bands. Band day seeks to engage middle school students who might be interested in joining the marching band as early as eighth grade. #SDOC2023 #SDOCarts

Mrs. Dangler's 6th grade astronomers learned about the Earth's Solar System this month. Students researched and built models for the space gallery walk. During the space walk students proudly presented on gravity, mass, distance, and characteristics of space objects.
